The Red Oaks

Volume 2; Number One

For the Month of September

Q: What is the Red Oaks?

A: When the first residence was built on the property that now is occupied by St. Augustine Prep, it was built by one of the descendants of the Woods family who had seen action in the American Civil War.  Col. Woods built the three-story structure that is now the Augustinian Monastery in the early 1890s.  He called the house and the land “Red Oaks Estate” given the kind and number of these trees that populate the property.  What a fitting image for the Prep!

To help keep the dream alive, we are putting together this newsletter. The purpose is to keep everyone informed of the great things that are happening here in Richland.  You will find calendars, stories, updates and notices, photo galleries; each with the purpose of watering the great red oak to keep it flourishing!

Have a great year!  Thanks for all you do!
